Observe nature

WHEN MAN SHAPES NATURE… AND LISTENS TO IT
The Marquenterre Park was born from a unique human adventure.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Jeanson family acquired dunes and marshes along the Bay of Somme.
After the Second World War, Michel Jeanson created a 200-hectare polder, reclaimed from the sea, for flower cultivation.
Gradually, nature reclaimed the land. The ponds attracted increasing numbers of birds. Inspired by great European parks, Michel Jeanson then made a visionary decision: to open this space to birds and their observation.
A NATURAL SPACE OPEN TO ALL
Today, the Marquenterre Park is one of the premier birdwatching sites in the Bay of Somme.

Across 200 hectares of protected land, marshes, reedbeds, dunes, and meadows, thousands of migratory birds from Europe and Africa arrive each year.
More than 300 bird species have been observed there, making the Park a major stopover on migratory routes.
Owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral (Coastal Conservancy) and located in the heart of the Baie de Somme National Nature Reserve, the site is maintained and preserved daily by dedicated teams. Visitor fees directly contribute to the protection of this natural area.

Open to all, the Marquenterre Park is a place of discovery, wonder, and learning, where visitors can take the time to observe, listen to, and understand nature.
OBSERVATION POSTS HAVE BEEN SET UP.
Along your walk, you'll meet guides who will explain and demonstrate bird behavior through their binoculars. Put yourself in the shoes of an ornithologist: try to guess their behavior, count them, and identify them... Benches are set up inside to facilitate observation.
